Clicking Our Heels!!!

We are clicking our heels because we are headed home to Wichita tomorrow morning. We got the OK from our doctors yesterday. We had to wait 1 hour for our eye doctor appt and 1.5 hours for our neurosurgeon appt. But it was well worth it because they said we could go!!! The eye doctor said her cross-eye degree is the same and her eyes' nerves are still "puffy". No change at this time. He wants to see her next Monday. Her neurosurgeon is impressed with her progress. He really likes her. He thinks we will get another scan in 4 weeks if she continues to improve. We will see him next Monday too. Aubrey and I have been home the last two days with just ourselves (Dad has been at work until 7 each night). We have done real well. I am still not packed, but oh well. Eventually it will get done I guess. So excited to go home...I could pee my pants. Thanks again for all your prayers and crossed fingers. I should have pictures loaded from the Halloween weekend by next Monday. We (Aubrey, Mom, Braden, Hunter, Nathan, Keith, Sophie (the miniature Yorkie), and I) will be the cast of Wizard of Oz if all works out! Have a blessed Halloween Weekend everyone.

A Weekend of Play

Well a weekend of play was had at the Scott household. Pops came to Lubbock on Saturday after work. I went to the spa for a massage and the crew (Mimi, Pops, Jared, and Aubrey) went to the park. They had a blast feeding the geese and playing on the playground. Today (Sunday) we went to the Legacy park for a breakfast picnic with Mimi and Pops. Good times were had by all. Then we fixed a few things around the house before the grandparents left. Most importantly, Aubrey and I had a GREAT nap. Tomorrow is Aubrey's first day with only one person monitoring her. It could be a busy and tiring day for me. We also have PT in the morning and an appointment with the eye doctor. We are hoping to meet with the neurosurgeon as well. Everyone is crossing their fingers that we get the "OK" to fly home to Wichita tomorrow. Here are some cute pictures of all the park fun. Enjoy!

Swinging the Day Away

Here just a picture of Aubrey swinging...still her favorite past time. Thought it would be reassuring for all to see her in her swing again. Enjoy everyone!

Lets Get Physical

We had a good day yesterday (Friday). Jared got off work early and was able to be home for her first physical therapy session. Carolyn, PT, came over around 930 am and worked Aubrey hard. First and foremost, we showed her our new train set. Then we practiced throwing and catching the ball with our new toy from Kristen and the Wichita Gang. Finally, Aubrey showed her how she can walk, crawl, climb, and bounce on her exercise ball! She was very impressed with Aubrey. We will see Carolyn every MWF for therapy. Aubrey said it was OK for Carolyn to come back and play. Aubrey is really taking off these last two days. She is wanting to be independent again...we are trying to allow her to do as much as possible...but we are sooo nervous she'll fall hit her head again. Our next issue to tackle is Aubrey and I exercising off all the goodies we have received from family and friends. I mean cookies, candies, popcorn balls, and more! We both could be considerably bigger by the Holiday Season. We head to the doctors this Monday and should know more about the plan for the next few weeks. We also hope to head home next week to Wichita for Halloween....only time will tell. I do have to say Aubrey has been very patient and sweet through this whole experience. We are very blessed.

Divine Intervention

They say that things work out for a reason...and I believe that whole-heartedly. Yesterday (Tuesday) we had quite a confusing and frustrating day. We were scheduled for an MRI at 100pm. This means nothing to eat in the morning except for clear liquids. And if anyone knows Aubrey that is not happening. She is a GREAT eater. So Mimi and I distracted her all morning with shopping and driving by parks (it was raining, so no swinging today). We eventually headed to the hopsital to check in for the MRI. The insurance coverage was causing quite a mess. Long story short, the rn that ordered the test had done the paperwork but the admitting people weren't calling her. The admitting staff were trying to send us to the other hospital or we would have to pay for the out-of-network MRI. After multiple, mutiple calls and stern discussions with supervisors we had a spot available for the MRI at UMC (the other hospital, where Jared works). We took Aubrey over there with our orders in hand. UMC was great. They admitted us quickly and took great care of us. The divine intervention becomes evident when we learn the neuroradiologist we already wanted to add to Aubrey's case was the radiologist working at UMC that day. YAY!!! After a long day of NPO staus and running around we got awesome pictures of Aubrey's brain and clot. The neuroradiologist reveiwed all previous scans and the most recent one with Jared and I in his office. We are waiting for all the doctors on Aubrey's case to talk to one another today. We don't believe there will be much change in her plan of care. We may have to do another MRI sooner than we thought (in 3weeks instead of 6-8 weeks). She has done great today! She is moving around her train set by herself (with us hovering her) and walking small distances on her own. The divine intervention was very tiring yesterday, but definitely worth the work. God blessed us real good!

The Ups and Downs

We had two appts today (Monday). The first appt today was with the neurosurgeon (NS), Dr. Nagy. He thought she seemed to be progressing nicely. He also thinks she is crazy cute. We showed him home videos of Aubs from the weekend. He was very glad to see her making such good progress. She waved and walked for him in the office. Her Mimi said "God Bless Dr. Nagy" and Aubs said "God bless you Dr. Nagy". He then said, "God bless you Aubrey". We felt good leaving there. Mimi, Aubrey, and I went to our favorite park for swing time. It was a blast. Then we headed to the eye doctor, Dr. Cockings. He examined her eyes initially and noticed the nerves may be more swollen. So he had to dilate her eyes. She hates that bad! After fighting him to look at her dilated eyes, he confirmed that the nerves at the back of her eye were more swollen than last Friday. He called Dr. Nagy. We had to go back to Dr. Nagy office. We then scheduled a MRI for tomorrow since she had recently eaten. We are assuming they are wanting to check the current clot size and it's location. Also making sure nothing else is affecting the eye nerves. We are making sure there isn't anything that needs prompt intervention. Her MRI is scheduled for 100pm. We have to be checked in by 1100am. Again she will receive general anesthesia for the case...boo. Physical therapy came to evaluate her today too. The therapist was amazed by Aubrey's progress and strength. Physical therapy will come 2-3 times a week. All and all, we have only a few milestones to practice and achieve before we are back to normal. On a lighter note, we purchased a train set for Aubrey at home. It is awesome. She practices her balance, walking, and hand-eye-coordination without knowing it. The train set and swing set have been our saving grace. Keep the prayers coming everyone and thank you!

Coming home!!!

My name is Kelli Scott. I am starting this blog to keep everyone updated on our daughter progress since her accident on 10/05/09. We are so excited to announce the arrival of Aubrey back home. We were discharged on Friday, 10/16/09, at 630 pm. Katy Hoke took half the presents while stopping at Walmart for the necessities, I went to Frazoli's drive-thru with the other half of the gifts, and Jared took Ms. Aubrey home. She was SOOOOO excited to be home. Last night she walked with assistance from her room to the kitchen and back to get Madie a treat. She slept on her mattress on the floor last night and did great. This morning she blew us away with army crawling and then crawling with her head up. She also asked to go to the potty (we were potty training before the accident) and did! Then, she actually sat up in her swing and swung for 20-30 minutes with holding her neck up herself. Just crazy. We are making appointments for PT, OT, and ST this weekend. I will try to keep you updated on the amazing progress. Thanks everyone for your prayers and thoughts. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL AND THANKFUL FOR AUBREY'S PROGRESS IN HER RECOVERY. YEA GOD!!!
